The Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID) will bring together two internationally renowned experts at the Sri Lanka Corporate Director Summit 2026, further strengthening the Summit's reputation as Sri Lanka's leading platform for discussions on corporate governance and board leadership.
The Summit will be held on 22 July 2026 at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo, where Prof. Sir Nishan Canagarajah, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester, United Kingdom, will deliver the keynote address via a live virtual presentation.
A distinguished Sri Lankan-born academic, Prof. Sir Nishan Canagarajah was awarded a Knighthood in the 2026 King's New Year Honours in recognition of his outstanding contributions to higher education. His keynote presentation, titled "Future-Ready Sri Lankan Boards: Leading Through Innovation, Talent, Technology and Global Competitiveness," will explore how Sri Lankan corporate boards can position themselves to succeed in today's rapidly evolving global business environment.
Another keynote address will be delivered by Edith Umole, Global Head of Talent and Career Development at the World Bank Group. In her presentation, "The Board's Responsibility for Talent," she will highlight the importance of succession planning, leadership development, and human capital management as fundamental responsibilities of effective corporate governance.
Drawing upon her extensive international experience, Umole will also present strategies for strengthening leadership pipelines, enhancing organisational resilience, and creating sustainable long-term value.
The Summit is expected to bring together corporate directors, board chairpersons, chief executive officers (CEOs), regulators, investors, and governance professionals for comprehensive discussions on the role of corporate boards in promoting sustainable growth, innovation, and global competitiveness.
